Due to predicted rain on Monday, practices will be switched this week for KTT and TTT. Monday will be running and Wednesday will be biking.
Inspiring Youth Through the Sport of Triathlon
Just a reminder that we will not have swim practice at The Ridge on Sunday due to the Tri the Rock race.
Packet pick-up is Saturday between 12 and 2 PM at the Castle Rock Recreation Center. Here you will receive your t-shirt and race number. This is also a great time to become familiar with the race course and maps by visiting the race site and walking or driving the race course. We encourage all parents to be familiar with their athletes courses.
Transition area opens at 6:30 AM at Butterfield Crossing Park. Arrive early if you want your choice of spots. Parking is available at the park (if you park here you will not be able to leave until the race is done), the nearby elementary school and along side streets.
You can find an equipment check-list in the members only section of the website.
Kids that TRI will have a couple of tents set-up at the race. Here you can leave your bags, set up chairs and find coaches and team members. Your Kids that TRI coaches for this race are Bob, John, Mary, Paige, Carrie, Matias and Bobby.
Race morning you will also need to check-in to get your timing chip and body markings. KTT will also have Sharpies at the tent for body marking.
Remember, this is an early season race. It is chilly before and often after the race. Please be prepared with layers to stay warm.
Please be advised that the Kids that TRI and Teens that TRI summer camps are almost full and registration will close on Friday, May 18. If you do not register before then, you will not be allowed to participate in either of the camps.
Remember that the Pelican Fest Triathlon (www.pelicanfesttri.com) in Windsor on May 25th will serve as the first ever Rocky Mountain High School Triathlon Championships. All of our Teens that TRI team members who are interested should register soon!
We are told from the race director that there will be a points system (similar to Ironkids for placing PLUS participation points) so the more from each high school that are represented, the greater the chance of winning the championship! Each Teens that TRI team member who races will be representing their high school at the same time as Teens that TRI.
Remember, this is the first ever of this kind in Colorado and Coach Bob helped to initiate this effort. Please try to support the growth of triathlon in high schools in our area by telling your friends to try a tri! This is a great race to get introduced into the sport for someone who has not done a triathlon. And, there are bragging rights on the table to boot!
Ask Coach Bob if you have any questions but you should register sooner than later!
The Kids that TRI fun run series is free to all annual members. We will hold three fun runs throughout the summer. Each will have a 1K, 3K and 5K option timed by stop watch. Everybody is welcome, bring your family and friends!
