Race Description

The Roxborough Duathlon is a run, bike, run race for youth age 5 - 12 and a formula one format for youth age 13 - 18 (a repeated run/bike format, see below for more information).  This race is for all ability levels. The goal is for athletes to have fun, build self-confidence and get involved in an active lifestyle.  The Roxborough Duathlon is brought to you by Kids that TRI, a non-profit organization dedicated to giving back to the community and inspiring kids to be active.

Race Location and Course Description

The race will take place at Roxborough Community Park just off Rampart Range Road in Roxborough, Colorado. Race day parking map is available here. Athletes will run and bike on community paths well staffed by volunteers.  Youth will not be running or riding on roads.

Race Distances

Age 5-7

Run 1/4 mile, bike 1.3 miles (1 loop), run 1/4 mile

Age 8-12

Run 1/2 mile (1 loop), bike 2.6 miles (2 loops), run 1 mile (2 loops)

Age 13-18

A super fun and exciting formula one format that includes a 1 mile run, 1.3 mile bike, 1/2 mile run, 1.3 mile bike, 1/2 mile run, 1.3 mile bike and a 1/2 mile run.  This will be extremely spectator friendly as the youth will be going through the transition area six times before heading to the finish line.

Each youth will count their own laps but will have the fun addition of having to be determined props next to their transition area which they will have to pick up and take with them to the transition area exit.  They will then give this prop to the volunteers and continue on their run or bike lap so it will help them count their laps and add a bit more fun to this exciting format of racing!

The Roxborough Duathlon is sanctioned by USA Triathlon, therefore, we are following the USAT “Age-up rule”. This means that the age of the athlete is determined not by the age on race day but the age the athlete will be on December, 31, 2011.

USA Triathlon annual membership requirement:

The Roxborough Duathlon is a USAT sanctioned event. In accordance with USA Triathlon requirements all youth competitors must hold an annual USAT license. Sign up on the USAT website before registering and then provide your membership number on the registration form.  With this one-time payment, youth triathletes are eligible to compete in all triathlons for the remainder of their annual membership year.

If the participant is already a member, enter the membership number on the appropriate space provided on the online registration form.
